Enhanced measures are part of broader security efforts in the wake of violence in Bangladesh
To address security concerns, Kolkata authorities have tightened rules against Bangladeshi nationals entering the city. This action aims to identify and apprehend members of the Bangladeshi Jamat, responsible for recent violence in Bangladesh, who are believed to have entered Kolkata under the guise of tourists.
With Kolkata being a popular destination for Bangladeshi travelers, sources indicate that some Jamat members may be hiding in local hotels. Consequently, hotels have been issued strict instructions to deny entry to Bangladeshi nationals without proper passports or identification. In cases of suspicion, hotel staff are required to contact the police immediately.
